About txaggiecj

My husband and I have been together since high school, went to Texas A&M together and then got married in 2008. In 2013 we had a set of twins, Caden and Tenley! We enjoy spending time with our friends and family and of course, traveling. I try to keep up with 3 blogs: my baby blog, my traveling blog, and my cookie blog.

Tenley Loses Her First Tooth

Monday (11.6.17) was a big day for Ms. T!  She lost her front, bottom tooth. It’s been loose for a couple of weeks now as her big tooth fully surfaced and has been been shoving this tooth out! She was messing with it a lot last night and it’s been bothering her when she eats lately, so we knew it was only a matter of time.

I helped her brush her teeth because she was scared to brush that tooth. It seemed pretty sturdy and I told her it would probably be in there for a few more days and not to worry too much; it will come out when it’s ready.  The kids were playing a game and she looks at me and says, “Mom, I think my tooth it ready, can you pull it?”  I asked her to let me feel it, I couldn’t imagine it had loosened so much in the past 10 minutes. I barely touch it and I SWEAR it flew out and landed in my hand. Her shocked look met mine and then her face LIT up with pure joy!  She had LOST her first tooth and she was SO proud!!

Caden keeps telling me he’s also a big boy, but he just hasn’t lost any teeth yet. I adamantly agree with him and let him know that he too will soon be loosing teeth! And until then, he has all his pretty teeth. I can tell he is so sad to not have a loose tooth like Tenley, but he is handling well and continues to ask her to see her new window!

I messaged Samantha quickly asking if she could help make us a coupon for Tenley and she sent back the cutest coupon for her to redeem for her tooth. Michael and I chose not to participate in the tooth fairy tradition and to make this a fun family event as they cross into being big kids! For each tooth, they get a fun surprise from mom and dad and we all enjoy a family outing! This tooth brought a free ice cream cone from Baskin Robbins! coupon

Halloween – 2017

We had friends, Sam, Jason, Carly and Jax, come over for our traditional Jack-O-Lantern Papa Murphy’s pizza dinner and then go trick or treating with us! This year my parents spent Halloween at my sister’s house as Cole is big enough to go trick or treating this year. He was the CUTEST ghost!

The kids, like always, wanted to do something matching and were Poppy & Branch from Trolls this year. I think they were most excited about their dyed hair! They settled on Trolls and I confirmed a few times before I began purchasing pieces of their costumes. The DAY I received Caden’s vest and pants in the mail he told me he wanted to me a red monster and a week later wanted to be a skeleton! I don’t think Tenley changed her mind as she was set on Poppy, but Caden came around when I let him know he would be a troll since I already bought it. His answer was a shrug and “next year I love to be a skeleton!”

The weather was a little sketchy, so we hurried through dinner to head out around 6:15.  Luckily the rain held off and didn’t begin pouring until almost 9pm! The three big kids did great and loved going from home to home! Carly tried keeping up with my bigger kids who continued to run ahead, but poor Jax was not having it.

After trick or treating we headed the Kyles to hangout with them for a little bit and because Tim set up his camera equipment again to get some good, professional halloween photos!  We got some great photos, but Kelly and the girls were still out Trick or Treating, so we didn’t get a change to see them Tuesday night!  Caden LOVED getting into his, grumpy Branch, character and was really good at it! We got some awesome photos of the two of them!

First Day of Pre-K

Today is the first day of Pre-K and boy are the kids excited! I think they understand they are growing up quickly! They always remark how big they are getting and enjoy letting me know they are getting bigger every day!  Caden was particularly proud that he could turn on his lights this morning without jumping!

This morning I took out memory books I purchased on Jane months ago and asked them each, separately, a series of questions: What do you want to be when you grow up? What’s your favorite color? Favorite food? Etc and wrote their answers down. I am excited to compare their answers to what they say on the last day of school as well as through the years to come. I have high hopes to continue filling these out!

IMG_20170905_071956I picked the kids up from school and asked how their day was.
Tenley – “We were at the same place, with the same teacher doing the same thing we do every day. Tt was fine!”
Christine thinks – wow, you are 4. That sure what a lot of sass for a relatively small question. LOL

IMG_20170905_071848Later that evening I was talking up Pre-k
Me: “You will learn how to read and write! This is going to be a really fun year preparing you for Kindergarten!”
Tenley: “I already know how to write my name.”
Caden: “Yea, but no one can read what you are writing!”
Me: “Okay, why don’t we start doing some of your coloring homework!”  Let’s dial it back, this must have been a big day for them! They are going to bed early tonight!
Caden: “I am really good at coloring and I love doing it. I can stay in the lines and everything!”

Trip to Florida – 2017

Our annual trip to Florida came up quickly!  The kids love going and look forward to it for weeks before we go! Someday I will learn not to mention it until the morning before we go so I don’t have to hear “when are we going to FL?” 1000 times prior to leaving! However, I am so glad they enjoy the trip, the flights as well as seeing Great Grandpa and Great Grandma. A week or two before we left I picked the kids from school and Tenley asks, “Are we going to that place where we saw the dinosaurs? You know, the ones that scared Caden?”  I was blown away because we saw them two years ago at the Botanical Gardens.

They did great on the plane, like always, but this year they were a year older! They held their own backpacks and did great listening in the airport.  The kids love sitting on the floor watching the planes leave the gates and take off. Every time one passes, they turn around and let us know.
Their conversation right before our flight:
Tenley – “Great Grandpa, here we come!!”
Caden – “I just can’t wait! It’s going to be SO fun!”

Caden had actually been pretty sick (spiking high fevers – 7 day virus) for the week leading up to the trip, so he was pretty sleepy and just relaxed on the way down there and both of them watched movies as this was his first day with a mild fever. When we arrived in Naples, we lugged the kids and all of our stuff and carseats to the rental company where we picked up our car for the next few days and drove the 2 hours to Grandpa’s house. The kids just fell asleep immediately and were quite the entire ride.
Saturday morning Caden woke up fine with no fever and wanted to go to the zoo. In fear we would wear him out, we opted to stay home and keep it low key, watch movies and let him relax. We watched movie and took some easy dips in the pool, but not a long of playing. They took a great nap and when they woke up, we bathed them and headed to Spanky’s Speakeasy, we’re basically regulars!  At the restaurant Caden wasn’t eating well and became overly whiney. He said he was tired and his head hurt and wanted to go home, so we actually headed out before the bill came. Turns out, his fever spiked back up to 103. So we spent the rest of the evening relaxing and watching Moana.
Sunday morning Caden did nto have a fever, but we decided to keep it another low key day knowing we would be pushing it on Monday.  We hung out at home again just playing in the pool and relaxing after church! That evening we went to another regular restaurant, P.F. Changs!

Monday was jam packed with fun!  We got up early and headed to the beach. We like this particular spot every year because we hang out in the shade of a tall hotel until 11am or so, at that point we always call it and head to Steak and Shake for lunch.  We went home for quick naps and then head over to the Zoo!  The kids loved playing in the sand and spent a little bit of time in the water, but still not much. They just sat there and let the waves hit them, but enjoyed playing in the sand the most.  At the zoo the kids loved seeing the Giraffe’s, but since we went so late in the day we missed the feeding. Tenley was heartbroken as was I, i knew how much she looked forward to that. Next year, for sure!!  On our way back from the giraffes we decided to hop on the Monkey island tour and took a boat around a few different monkey islands. Caden kept shouting at the monkeys “Where are you?” “Hey monkey, look at me!!” We ended the evening packing and getting ready to leave fairly early the next morning and head home!

Because Caden was sick we didn’t get to go to the Children’s Museum this year or see Grandpa’s new apartment, but still had a great time and enjoyed a little bit more relaxing this year! Caden was a bit more active on the flight home and loved playing games on Michaels tablet for the first time and caught on quickly. Tenley watched a movie and then we switched and she played a coloring game on the tablet! Win, I napped!
Another amazing trip in the books! We aren’t sure about next year since we are going to Florida this December as well.

Halloween 2016

We had a lowkey Halloween here at home this year. We planned on Katie & Anthony coming with Cole, but since he wasn’t feeling well my parents came over for dinner and Trick or Treating! We ate the Jack-O-Lantern Papa Murphy’s pizza for dinner, got dressed and headed out! We headed out around 6:30, still plenty light outside and were back around 7 before it got dark. The kids had fun, but they ended up getting quite a bit of candy and their bags were getting heavy, Caden no longer wanted to carry his sword and Tenley wanted to be carried.  That was a huge sign to head home!

Tenley chose to be a princess and there was no persuading her of anything different.  She wanted to wear her pink dress up dress! Caden desperately wanted to match her, so he came up with being a Knight.
Caden: “I want to be a knight, so that I can save Princess Tenley from the dragon in the tallest tower,” as he theatrically raised his hand above his head motioning to this fictional tower.  So I hopped online and he had a knight costume within 2 days – thanks Amazon Prime!
We got home and allowed them each to pick out some candy to eat and they both graciously handed out candy to the four of us and settled in on a bag of skittles, just like last year! They changed in their skeleton jams and helped us hand out candy for 20-30 minutes until bedtime!  All in All another successful Halloween!

First Day of Pre-School

Today is the first of many first days. It’s the first day of Pre-School for my babies big kids! I shouldn’t be calling them babies anymore, they really aren’t. At least once a day they correct me, “I am not a baby! I’m a big girl/boy/kid!” They get older by the day and it shows! The amount of information they know and are learning daily is astounding! I was just telling my mom that I can’t believe how big they’ve gotten. They speak correctly with the correct tenses and forms and can hold complete conversations with topic changes!

The long, Labor Day weekend took it out of them because I had to wake both of them up at 6:30 this morning when typically they have awoken me well before 6am.

When I was getting them ready and off to school, I didn’t even remember today they were starting pre-school.  I dropped them off at Ms. Leslie’s and she mentioned it, so I snapped a quick picture and off Michael and I went. Just like that. I love that they get to continue pre-school with the same friends and Ms. Leslie until kinder.

They were not overly interested in taking a photo, but here it is:
Little [kids] should never be sent to bed, they always wake up a day older.
